Drawn to the Valley
The Drawn to the Valley project brings together artists from across the Tamar Valley area, including Plymouth. Our aims are to promote art within the area for the benefit of both the public and the artists by putting on a series of exhibitions and an Open Studios event. It is hoped that the project will help contribute to the wider regeneration of the local economy and to the promotion of the Tamar Valley as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and part of the World Heritage Site.
The Drawn to the Valley artists live on both sides of the River Tamar. They are united by their passion for this sometimes forgotten Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Tamar Valley. The group first formed in 2003, and has since grown from thirty to over one hundred members. It is helping to contribute to the regeneration of the local economy, through selling exhibitions and Open Studios. Largely self-funded, it is run by the artists themselves with the help of a part-time coordinator and administration assistance from the Tamar Valley AONB Service. The group also serves as a support structure in the solitary profession of making art.
