I am a felt maker, working and teaching between Dartmoor and the Tamar Valley. After a textiles course at Goldsmiths I experimented with 2D and 3D objects using the wet felt making process where fibres are layered, wetted, heated and manipulated to shrink them, forming a strong fabric. Following a City and Guilds in Felt making, I learnt new techniques, including dry needle punch and nuno, where fleece is felted to other fibres and fabrics such as silk and yarn. I now concentrate on larger figurative and abstract wall hangings incorporating all these methods. Colours and patterns in nature and dreams are my major inspiration. I have recently taken a studio at Duchy Square where I make, exhibit and offer workshops.I welcome collaborations and commissions.
