Artist Discipline(s): Image & Text,Photography & PrintmakingMy first love is photography and sketching which is inspired by the townscapes, coasts, sea, rivers and moors all close to where I live. At this time my photography is mainly displayed on my greetings cards. I experiment in many media but at the moment I am concentrating on etchings. I love the alchemical work with the metal plates, the original old fashioned printing press, the traditional techniques. Most of my work has also been traditional in format but increasingly the detail of patterns within the view fascinate me; stone formation, ripples in the sand. I am also a poet. Often visual impressions will tumble over into the written word. Sometimes these complement the artwork, sometimes they stand alone. I am mostly self taught I have taken various evening and part time classes from drawing, painting and pottery to metalwork and welding. I have also apprenticed myself to established artists and craftsmen when I admired their work and wanted to learn from them. I also completed a 2 year Foundation course in Art at Saltash College in 2000. After this course ended I pursued my interest in working with metal and found I loved the process of acid etching and printmaking. I began to exhibit seriously in 2008 and joined Drawn to the Valley and Flameworks. I have exhibited at various venues had 'Open Studios', and am pleased to find I am steadily increasing the sales of my work.
